Join us for this second in a series of three entry-level doll seminars in our new Doll Restoration Program. Joyce Murch, the leading expert in the field of doll restoration, will teach you the techniques for making invisible museum quality repairs to porcelain dolls: disassembling and cleaning; bonding, making missing pieces; filling and sanding; color matching; feature painting; airbrushing and sealing. Written instructions will also be provided.

Porcelain Concepts 2

You are invited to the masquerade party! This is the second seminar of a series designed to introduce you to a variety of porcelain projects and techniques. In this seminar you will finish: Jan Garnett's Little Ashlyn (J221), an adorable modern child doll, on a composition body; a painted head for the classic German doll Miranda (S35H); and the Pierrette Trinket Tray (SC281ST),a glazed and china painted container designed to represent a reclining female clown figure. You will receive a free notebook filled with lots of dollmaking techniques and information and a kit for each project that will include all the china paints you need and detailed instructions for painting, decorating and assembly. There will also be other surprises and party favors!

Alessandra has designed another of her fabulous creations for 24" (61cm) Paris Bébé Danielle by the French firm Danel & Cie. In the seminar you will paint Danielle and assemble her on a 19" composition body; sew the enchanting dress of blue and yellow embroidered silk and velvet and learn lots of new costuming tips and techniques. You will also receive a pattern and instructions for making the matching high brimmed hat at home.

Little Fashion Doll and Costume

George and Martha Washington
Bob Severn, Indiana
Create George and Martha Washington, a pair of handsome portrait dolls sculpted in the 1940s by Martha Oathout Ayers for Emma Clear. Both dolls have cloth bodies, porcelain shoulder, head, arms and legs; and sculpted hair, shoes and eyes. Martha is 16" (41 cm) tall and George is 17 1/2" (44.5 cm) tall. You will paint both dolls in the Dimensional Doll Painting technique and assemble them in the seminar. You will also paint three doll house dolls to go in the basket of doll parts Martha is carrying.
After the seminar you can dress the dolls using the costume patterns designed by Bob.

Advanced Porcelain Restoration (Doll Restoration 3)

This is the third and final Level I Seminar in the Doll Restoration Program. Joyce will teach you how to make the more difficult porcelain repairs and the specialized techniques for making the repairs invisible: advanced color matching and feature painting; antiquing; hiding a flaw and sculpting replacement pieces. Written instructions will also be provided. Prerequisite: Porcelain Restoration (Doll Restoration 2).
